How much does it cost to sell on SCOTSY?

There are two costs:

  1. Membership subscription plan costs.
  2. Commission fees.

Firstly, SCOTSY costs are dependent on the chosen subscription plan. The plans are as follows:

  • BASIC Plan
  • MONTHLY Plan
  • YEARLY Plan

Details on each plan are summarised in this article (CLICK to open):

What are the different Seller Plan Subscriptions?

Here are some notes on the significant aspects of the three plan costs and the commission rates that apply.

  1. The BASIC Plan is a non-subscription FREE plan with a commission rate of 20% of the artwork sold price. Notably, this plan is limited to a maximum of 5 artwork products.
  2. The MONTHLY PLUS Plan charges a monthly fee but has a 30-day FREE trial period. After 30 days it is £7.50 per month.
The SCOTSY commission rate charged is then 14%.
The number of products is currently unlimited.
  3. The YEARLY PLUS Plan has a 30-day FREE trial period and then an annual fee of £90.00. This plan is otherwise the same as the Monthly plan but has the advantage of 'Auctions' functionality.
The commission rate is 14% on artwork.

Art Merchandise

Importantly, with all three plans, the commission rate for Art Merchandise is set at only 8%.

The effect of discount Coupons

There are two types of discount coupons that may be applied to products:

  • a SCOTSY admin coupon, which applies to all products, by all artists, throughout the site. and
  • an Artist specific couponwhich artists can apply to their own artwork and merchandise only.

If any discount coupon applies to a sale the SCOTSY commission rate is applied to the Sale price and not the Original, standard priceThus it is the artwork or merchandise item SOLD price that applies for the commission amount.

Notably, an admin coupon overrides an Artist coupon so that only one type of coupon can apply
